What are credits?

Credits are used to generate videos with Sora.

The credit costs per generation depends on the quality and duration of each generation as follows:

Please note that requesting multiple variations at once will be charged at the same rate as running two separate generation requests.

If you use Re-cut, Remix, Blend, or Loop to create content that falls outside of the 5 second increments, credits will be spent as follows:

Please note that ChatGPT Pro users can generate relaxed videos, which do not incur credit usage. Relaxed video generation takes effect when you a ChatGPT Pro account runs our of credits.

How many credits come with each plan?

Credit amounts are as follows for each ChatGPT tier:

Your credits are applied at midnight UTC once your subscription renewal payment is complete. If the payment is processed after midnight UTC, the credits will be added at the following midnight UTC.

How do I upgrade or cancel my plan?

Only ChatGPT Plus users can upgrade their plan. To upgrade or cancel your plan, click on your profile icon on the top-right corner of any Sora page and select My plan in the drop-down menu.

In the Settings menu, navigate to My plan and click on the Manage plan button.

To complete the upgrade, click on the Upgrade button under the Plan type.

You can cancel your plan by going to ChatGPT, selecting Settings under your profile icon on the top-right of the page, and navigating to the Subscription section. Under Manage, select Cancel Subscription and confirm to complete your plan cancellation.

Please note that canceling your plan will immediately void any existing credits in your account.

ChatGPT Pro and Team users cannot purchase additional credits.

What are relaxed videos?

ChatGPT Pro enables you to generate videos in relaxed mode, which lets you queue videos to be completed when site traffic is low. Relaxed mode kicks in when your ChatGPT Pro account runs out of credits. Relaxed videos do not require credits. In general, relaxed videos will take longer to create than priority videos.

Can I purchase more credits?

We currently don’t support the ability to purchase more credits on a one-time basis.

If you are on a ChatGPT Plus and would like to access more credits to use with Sora, you can upgrade to the Pro plan.

Do credits roll over to the next month?

No, Sora credits are not cumulative and do not roll over to the following month. They expire at the conclusion of each billing cycle.

Your monthly plan credits reset at midnight UTC at the start of your billing cycle.

Is Sora part of ChatGPT Team?

We're still working to release a business version of Sora, but in the meantime we are offering free credits to our ChatGPT Team users if they wish to try the consumer version of Sora under our consumer Terms of Use.

ChatGPT Team users who access Sora using their Team account will also be opted out of training.

What is my billing date?

Your billing date is the day of the month on which you first initiated your plan, which is also the day that you will receive your monthly subscription charge. Subscriptions for ChatGPT plans are charged on a calendar monthly basis, from the subscription start date.

How do I delete my account?

⚠️ Deleted accounts are not recoverable. Deleting your account yourself in ChatGPT or our Privacy Center will include canceling any active paid subscriptions.

If you previously deleted an OpenAI account, we don't support creating a new account with the same email or reactivating the old account.

You can delete your account in ChatGPT by following these steps:

  1. In the top right, click your profile icon.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. In Settings click Data Controls.

  4. Under Delete account click Delete.

    • You may only delete your account if you have logged in within the last 10 minutes.

    • If you haven't logged in within the last 10 minutes then you'll need to sign in again.

  5. Confirmation screen will appear where you need to type your account email + "DELETE" into the input fields to unlock the "Permanently delete my account" button

  6. Once the inputs are filled out you unlock the "Permanently delete my account" button

  7. Click "Permanently delete my account" to delete your account.

Why do I get the error, "You do not have an account because it has been deleted or deactivated"?

If you get this error when you try to login or create an account it means the account associated with the email address you're trying to use to sign up for / login to an account underwent an account deletion:

This will happen either because you deleted your account in ChatGPT -- or -- you deleted your account by submitting the email to our Privacy Center for deletion.
