Early access for safety testing (December 20)
We’re inviting safety researchers to apply for early access to our next frontier models. This early access program complements our existing frontier model testing process, which includes rigorous internal safety testing, external red teaming such as our Red Teaming Network and collaborations with third-party testing organizations, as well the U.S. AI Safety Institute and the UK AI Safety Institute. As models become more capable, we are hopeful that insights from the broader safety community can bring fresh perspectives, deepen our understanding of emerging risks, develop new evaluations, and highlight areas to advance safety research.
Submit your application for our early access period, opening December 20, 2024, to push the boundaries of safety research: https://openai.com/index/early-access-for-safety-testing/
We’ll begin selections as soon as possible thereafter. Applications close on January 10, 2025.

Santa Mode & Video in Advanced Voice (December 12)
Video and screensharing is rolling out, starting today, to both our iOS and Android apps, and will be fully available over the course of the next week to all Teams, and most Plus subscribers. These features are currently available to almost all Pro subscribers, and we plan to bring this soon to Pro subscribers in the EU.
Santa Mode is fully available to all users that currently have access to Voice chats on ChatGPT.
We are resetting usage limits one-time when you first use the Santa voice.
You can now chat with Santa on ChatGPT! Until early January, you can find Santa in the list of available voices in settings.
You can chat with Santa in both advanced voice and standard voice modes. The first time you chat with Santa, your advanced voice limit will reset one time. So, if you’ve already used up your advanced voice limit for the day or the month (based on your subscription plan), you can still chat with Santa for the first time using advanced voice.
You can also now share video from your devices at any time during a voice chat by selecting the camera button at the bottom of the screen.
We are currently rolling out video, screen share, and image upload capabilities in advanced voice in ChatGPT iOS and Android mobile apps. Video, screen share, and image upload capabilities will be available to all Team users and most Plus and Pro users, except for those in the European Union, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein. We expect this rollout to be completed over the next week. Usage of video and screen share capabilities is limited for all eligible plans on a daily basis. Usage of image uploads counts toward your plan usage limits. Learn more about Vision message limits.

Reinforcement Fine-Tuning (December 6)
In this alpha phase, we are working with select participants to gather feedback on how this feature can be used effectively and responsibly. At this time, we do not have a timeline or additional details to share on broader public availability.
We’re expanding our Reinforcement Fine-Tuning Research Program to enable developers and machine learning engineers to create expert models fine-tuned to excel at specific sets of complex, domain-specific tasks.
This new model customization technique enables developers to customize our models using dozens to thousands of high quality tasks and grade the model’s response with provided reference answers. This technique reinforces how the model reasons through similar problems and improves its accuracy on specific tasks in that domain.
