This information applies only to standard paid plans. Enterprise and Education plans are managed separately and are outside the scope of this article.

Credit and debit cards
United States — ChatGPT wallet balance
For eligible accounts and purchases in the United States, you can use your ChatGPT wallet balance toward charges in US dollars (USD) on the ChatGPT website. This does not extend wallet support to every currency listed above, API billing, or subscriptions billed through Apple or Google.
A wallet balance may remain visible even when gift-card redemption or wallet funding is unavailable for your location, billing currency, or purchase. Seeing a USD balance does not confirm that you can use it for a particular checkout.
Before confirming a purchase, check the currency, the wallet amount applied, and the remaining amount due. If wallet funds are not applied as expected, stop before confirming an unexpected charge and contact OpenAI Support. Changing your subscription currency does not by itself make a purchase eligible for wallet funding.
Note that gift card purchases and redemptions are currently available in the US only, and denominated in USD.

India
UPI is available for Go and Plus plans. It is not offered for Pro or Business plans at this time.
Indonesia
GoPay is supported for Go, Plus, and Pro users.

FAQ
Can I change the currency of my subscription?
If you already have an active subscription, you’ll continue to be billed in your current currency.
During the pause on new ChatGPT Pro $200 (Pro 20X) subscriptions, you cannot re-subscribe to that plan after your subscription ends. See: Pro $200 pause FAQ.
If you’d like to switch to a newly supported currency, you’ll need to cancel your subscription and re-subscribe once your current billing period ends.
What if my payment method requires extra verification?
Customers in the EEA may be prompted for Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) during purchase or renewal. Follow the on‑screen steps to complete verification.
Can I purchase API credits in additional currencies?
No. Purchases for API credits are currently limited to USD.
