What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is an AI assistant you can use for everyday tasks like brainstorming, writing, studying, planning, math, coding, analyzing images/files, and more. It’s trained to follow your instructions in a conversation. Learn more about ChatGPT.
Where can I use ChatGPT?
Web: chatgpt.com (you can even try it without an account in supported regions).
Mobile apps: iOS and Android.
How do I start my first chat?
Open ChatGPT, type what you need in the message box, and send. Select New chat any time to start fresh.
What can I try first?
Ask follow-up questions (ChatGPT remembers context within a chat).
Upload a file or image to analyze, summarize, or transform (available on paid plans with data analysis).
Create an image (“Create a watercolor logo of a mountain at sunrise”). ChatGPT images include C2PA provenance metadata.
Can ChatGPT search the web?
Yes. ChatGPT can search the web and cite sources when it needs current information. You can also click the web-search icon or use the “/Search” shortcut in supported experiences.
What is Temporary Chat?
Temporary chats don’t show in history, don’t use/create memories, and aren’t used to train models. Start a temporary chat from the model menu when you want extra privacy for a specific conversation.
How do I export my data or delete my account?
Export: Go to Settings → Data Controls → Export to receive a download of your data.
Delete account: You can delete your account in Settings or via the Privacy Portal. Deletion is permanent and processed within standard timelines.
Which plans are available?
Free: Core ChatGPT with basic limits.
Plus / Pro: Access to our latest models and tools; higher limits; voice, images, data analysis, and more. Details and purchase flow live in Settings → Subscription and on plan pages.
Business & Enterprise: Collaboration features, higher limits, admin controls, and enterprise privacy commitments. See Business FAQ and Enterprise pages for details.
Are there message limits?
Yes, limits vary by plan and model and can change over time to keep performance stable (Plus has higher limits than Free; Business/Enterprise higher than Plus). Check model-specific entries and release notes for current allowances.
Can I share a conversation?
Yes. Use Share to create a link to a read-only copy of a conversation you can send to others.
