Setting up ChatGPT Ads in HubSpot

Connect your ChatGPT Ads account, create campaigns, and review performance in HubSpot.

Updated: 5 hours ago

Overview

ChatGPT Ads in HubSpot connects your ChatGPT Ads account to your HubSpot account. You can create campaigns, add new leads directly to your CRM, trigger follow-up workflows, and view performance alongside your other ad channels.

Availability

This integration is available to all HubSpot customers wherever ChatGPT Ads are available.

Before you begin

You need:

  • An active ChatGPT Ads account or the information required to create one.

  • A HubSpot Marketing Hub Free, Starter, Professional, or Enterprise account.

  • Permission to connect ad accounts and create campaigns in HubSpot.

  • Permission to manage your ChatGPT Ads Manager account.

For ChatGPT Business and Enterprise organizations, a global admin must also approve HubSpot’s Ads access in the OpenAI Admin Console. Ads access is off by default and remains off unless a global admin enables it.

Organization approval and your authorization are separate. You still review the requested permissions and authorize HubSpot using your existing Ads-account permissions. Being an Ads account admin or HubSpot administrator does not automatically make you an OpenAI global admin.

For the organization approval steps, see: Managing your tenant in Admin Console.

Connect HubSpot to ChatGPT Ads

  1. In HubSpot, open Settings.

  2. Under Tools, select Marketing, then Ads.

  3. Select Connect account.

  4. Select ChatGPT Ads from the list of ad networks.

  5. Sign in to your existing ChatGPT Ads account or create an account, then follow the authorization flow.

  6. Review the requested permissions and select Connect account to finish.

If an Ads account is marked Restricted, ask a global admin for the organization that owns it to confirm that HubSpot’s Ads access is enabled. If the organization has approved HubSpot and the account is still restricted, contact the account admin. Then return to HubSpot and retry the connection.

Create a ChatGPT Ads campaign in HubSpot

  1. In HubSpot, go to Marketing > Ads.

  2. Select Create, then Ad Campaign.

  3. Select ChatGPT Chat Card, select your account, then select Next.

  4. Enter your campaign information in the Ad, Targeting, and Budget & Schedule tabs.

  5. Review your campaign, then select Publish.

View campaign attribution and performance

  1. In HubSpot, go to Marketing > Ads.

  2. Select your ChatGPT Ads account.

  3. View performance by campaign, ad group, or individual ad, including impressions, clicks, contacts, customers, and cost.

  4. To compare ChatGPT Ads with your other ad channels, go to the Analyze tab.

Disconnect HubSpot

  1. In HubSpot, open Settings.

  2. Go to Integrations > Connected Apps.

  3. Find ChatGPT Ads and select Actions > Uninstall.

  4. Enter uninstall when prompted, then select Uninstall to confirm.

Disconnecting HubSpot from ChatGPT Ads does not delete your Ads Manager account or existing campaigns. Existing campaigns may stop updating if they depend on the disconnected HubSpot account to run.

Troubleshoot the connection

If you cannot connect your account or create a campaign:

  1. Confirm that you are signed in to the correct ChatGPT Ads account and have permission to manage it.

  2. Confirm that you have permission to connect ad accounts in HubSpot and access to the Ads tool.

  3. If you use a ChatGPT Business or Enterprise organization, ask its global admin to confirm that HubSpot’s Ads access is enabled for the organization that owns the affected Ads account.

  4. Return to HubSpot and complete the authorization flow.

  5. If the permissions are correct and the connection still fails, disconnect and reconnect the ChatGPT Ads account, then try again.

If the issue continues, contact HubSpot support and identify the HubSpot account and ChatGPT Ads account you are trying to connect.
