Here's our help article on how to add or remove members from a ChatGPT Team. Whenever you add or remove members to your ChatGPT Team workspace, that affects the amount of seats you are billed for.

Adding members

When you add members to your ChatGPT Team workspace, it directly affects the number of seats under your subscription. Here's what to expect:

  • Flexible Monthly Plan: At the start of your billing month, you're charged for a baseline number of seats. If members in your workspace add members (and thereby seats) above this baseline during the month, the additional seats will be billed on a pro-rated basis, reflected on your next monthly invoice unless you've add 2x your current baseline or 20 seats in a month, which will result in an instant invoice for a true-up.

  • Annual Plan: Similarly, if you're on an annual plan and add seats, these will also be billed on a pro-rated basis at the end of each monthly true-up cycle, with the new charges appearing on the subsequent invoice.

Removing members

Reducing your team size by removing members (and thereby seats) occurs when the number of seats drops below your baseline during the billing period; the baseline will adjust to your new reduced count at the next billing cycle. However, for the current month, you will still be billed for the baseline number of seats. The minimum number of members in a ChatGPT Team workspace is two.
