We’re planning to retire custom GPTs and help you build on the workflows you’ve already created. Instead of custom GPTs, we recommend moving your workflows to Plugins. Plugins offer a way to bring reusable instructions and connected apps together, so your guidance can work alongside the tools and information a task needs. A migration flow is planned to help you make that move.
For affected Enterprise workspaces, retirement is planned for Dec 11, 2026. Existing GPTs remain usable until retirement. Start preparing the workflows you want to keep for migration to plugins. The migration experience is targeted for Sep 17, 2026 and may not be available to every account or workspace at the same time. Migrate, test, and review access to the replacement before switching.
Other plans are expected to follow the same timeline - review notices, when available, for your account or workspace. Public GPTs created in affected Enterprise workspaces are included even when used from another plan. Read more.
Overview
If your GPT is restricted from sharing because it may violate brand guidelines or usage policies, you can edit it to make it compliant and try an available sharing option again, or submit an appeal if that option is available.
Appeals address policy and moderation decisions. They do not change account eligibility or enable personal ChatGPT accounts to create or publish new GPTs.
While an appeal is under review, you may still be able to use the GPT privately, but you cannot edit, update, or share it with others until the appeal is resolved or you cancel it.
Submit an appeal
If you believe a policy or moderation decision restricted your GPT from sharing in error, submit an appeal using the link in the email notification you received.
Appeals apply to policy and moderation decisions. They do not enable personal ChatGPT accounts to create or publish new GPTs.

While the appeal is under review
After you submit an appeal:
You cannot edit or update the GPT until it is reviewed or until you cancel the appeal.
You may still be able to use the GPT privately.
You will receive the review outcome by email at the address associated with the ChatGPT account that owns the GPT.
The GPT remains unavailable for broader sharing until the appeal is resolved or canceled.
