Organizations and businesses using ChatGPT Business can now use memories to enhance their experience. Memory allows ChatGPT to remember information shared during conversations and provide more personalized, relevant responses over time.

If I merge my personal workspace into Business, will my saved memories transfer?
Yes. Saved memories that apply across your chats transfer when Memory is enabled in your personal workspace.
Existing saved memories in your Business workspace are kept.
Memories limited to a project or another restricted context aren't included in this saved-memory transfer.
Whether ChatGPT uses memory after migration depends on your settings and your workspace's controls. Transferring saved memories doesn't turn Memory on.
Merging is permanent and cannot be undone. Your personal workspace is deactivated and no longer appears in the workspace switcher, but your personal data is not deleted as part of the merge. For supported content, exclusions, and access considerations, see: personal-workspace migration options.
If you choose not to merge, your personal workspace, conversations, and memories will remain separate and private from your Business workspace.
If my workspace is deactivated, will my memories be deleted?
No. Deactivation itself does not delete conversations or memories. While a Business workspace is deactivated:
Members cannot access its conversations or memories.
Reactivating the workspace restores access for its members.
After cancellation, access normally continues until the end of the current billing period. A failed payment may lead to deactivation.
Workspace owners can reactivate a workspace by paying any outstanding invoices.
If my workspace is deleted, will my memories be deleted?
Yes. If a Business workspace is permanently deleted:
All user data within the workspace, including conversations and memories, will also be permanently deleted.
Deleted data cannot be recovered.
Can I share memories from my account with other members of my workspace?
No. Memories are:
Tied to each individual account.
Not transferable to other users, even within the same Business workspace.
Can I deactivate personalization and memory features for my Business workspace?
Yes. Memory and personalization controls are available at both the user and workspace levels:
Individual users can disable Memory at any time through their Settings.
Workspace owners can control whether personalization and memory features are available across the entire workspace. If a workspace owner turns off Memory for the workspace, existing saved memories for members in that workspace are deleted.
Do you train your models with memories?
No. ChatGPT Business follows OpenAI’s Business Terms and Enterprise Privacy policies. By default:
Workspace data, including conversations and memories, is not used to train OpenAI models.
