What is 1-800-ChatGPT?
1-800-ChatGPT is an experimental new launch to enable wider access to ChatGPT. You can now talk to ChatGPT via phone call or message ChatGPT via WhatsApp at 1-800-ChatGPT without needing an account.
Note that ChatGPT will never be the one to initiate a call or start a chat with you on WhatsApp. You can start a conversation by calling 1-800-CHATGPT (1-800-242-8478) with a US or Canada number or messaging 1-800-242-8478 on WhatsApp from supported countries. Standard carrier fees may apply.

What usage limits apply when I call or message 1-800-ChatGPT?
You can talk to 1-800-ChatGPT for 15 minutes per month for free, with a daily limit on WhatsApp messages. We may adjust usage limits based on capacity if needed.
We provide a notice as you approach the limit and inform you when the limit has been reached. You can continue chatting with ChatGPT by downloading the ChatGPT app at chatgpt.com/download or going to chatgpt.com.
Do you have any tips for preventing interruptions with voice conversations?
1-800-ChatGPT works best in quieter environments. Background noise may be misinterpreted as prompts. We recommend enabling noise isolation features on your device. On iPhone, enabling Voice Isolation mic mode can help to avoid unintentional interruptions. You can enable Voice Isolation by opening your Control Panel while having a phone call, selecting Mic Mode, and switching to Voice Isolation.
Occasionally, interruptions may happen during a conversation with 1-800-ChatGPT. We recommend having 1-800-ChatGPT voice conversations with headphones or earphones.
What capabilities are not supported by 1-800-ChatGPT?
WhatsApp messaging currently supports text conversations only. Features that require logging into a ChatGPT account, such as ChatGPT search, chatting with images, and personalization features like custom instructions and memory, are not currently available. The knowledge cutoff for 1-800-ChatGPT is Oct 2023.
It is not possible to add ChatGPT to group chats.

How do I know I am actually messaging with ChatGPT on Whatsapp?
You can be sure you are messaging ChatGPT on Whatsapp by checking the phone number (1-800-242-8478) and seeing the WhatsApp verified badge in the chat.
Do you retain conversations from 1-800-ChatGPT?
We do store and may review your calls, transcript of calls, and WhatsApp messages with 1-800-ChatGPT for a limited period of time for safety and abuse prevention purposes. Learn more about how we may review your content for safety.
How do I export my data from 1-800-ChatGPT or request for data to be deleted?
Your conversations with 1-800-ChatGPT are associated with the phone number you used to call or message 1-800-ChatGPT. For information about how to access or delete your data, you can review our Privacy Policy.
Please note that your messages while using WhatsApp are also subject to WhatsApp’s terms, and requests for export or deletion from WhatsApp would need to be addressed to them.
Why is 1800-ChatGPT telling me it can’t help me or being unresponsive to my prompts?
There are multiple reasons 1-800-ChatGPT may not respond to your prompts. This is the first time we are enabling access to ChatGPT through WhatsApp messaging and phone calls. We expect to continue improving 1800-ChatGPT as we better understand its usage.
You may also not be getting a response to your prompt as a result of our safety measures. If it seems like your prompt is in line with our Usage Policies, then please send us feedback at help.openai.com or click on the widget in the bottom right hand corner of this page. To report potential policy violations or illegal content, you can do so at our Report Content webform and select ChatGPT as the product.
My number has been blocked, can you please unblock my number?
