If you’re interested in getting access as it becomes available, you can sign up for the waitlist. Users with ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans in the US are eligible. Health in ChatGPT is supported on Web and iOS. Connected Apple Health and medical records data is not used to train our foundation models or target ads.

Note: The optional Medical Records (EHR) is US only and requires being over 18 years old to use.

Update as of June 29, 2026

Based on feedback, some of our early users are starting to test a few updates to make it easier to use the health information you’ve chosen to connect to ChatGPT:

  • You can now use your connected Apple Health and medical records information to get a more informed response in any ChatGPT conversation, not just from Health in the ChatGPT sidebar.

  • You can also choose to use more apps and connectors with your Apple Health and medical records data. Our systems are designed to share only the data that is relevant to helping you with the apps and connectors you choose.

  • To help personalize your chats, memories can be created from your health conversations. Memories are not created directly from connected health data. If you’d like to have a conversation without creating memories, you can use Temporary Chat or turn memory off in personalization settings.

  • To provide more transparency of the data you’ve chosen to connect, there’s an early version of the new Health experience in the sidebar. You can view a timeline of the records you’ve chosen to sync, in addition to health chats and manage connected accounts.

  • With these changes, any chats and files that you previously had in Health are still available in a pinned project called “Health” in the ChatGPT sidebar, where they continue to be handled with the data controls described in the article below

To get started, you may need to update your iOS app or reconnect your data by going to Health in the ChatGPT sidebar.

You’re always in control of what health information you connect and how it is used. You can choose which accounts to connect and can disconnect at any time from Health. When you disconnect an account, the connected data will be deleted from our systems within 30 days. By default, ChatGPT will ask you for your permission every time it intends to use your medical records to personalize a response. You can choose to always allow ChatGPT to use this data to inform its answers, which will turn off these prompts. Your connected health data is subject to our Health Privacy Notice.

We’ve updated our systems to keep your data private and secure through these changes. All chats in ChatGPT are encrypted by default at rest and in transit as part of our core security architecture, and we’re applying additional encryption controls to synchronized connected health data. Connected health data is not used to train our foundation models or target ads.

The content in the article below is relevant to the Health experience prior to these changes.

Overview

What is Health in ChatGPT?

Health is a dedicated space in ChatGPT where you can ask health and wellness questions and choose to connect your health data (like medical records and wellness apps) so responses can be grounded in that context. It is designed to support, not replace, medical care.

You can optionally connect sources like Medical Records and Apple Health, and your Health chats, memories, and files stay separate from the rest of ChatGPT.

Select Health from the sidebar. If you ask a health-related question in a main chat, ChatGPT may also offer to continue the conversation in Health.

You can also disconnect apps and medical records in Apps in Settings.

ChatGPT Health uses health-specific memory that stays within Health. You can review and delete Health memories in View Health Memories, and you can control whether Health uses memory in Settings > Personalization.

  • Saved Memories (Reference saved memories): If this is enabled, Health can incorporate memories you’ve saved in your main ChatGPT account. Your Health saved memories are available in View Health Memories, where you can also delete them.

  • Reference Chat History: If this is enabled, Health may use relevant context from your prior chats. To remove something Health is picking up from chat history, delete the specific Health conversation it came from.

Memories created in Health are not accessible from your main ChatGPT account.

Learn more in our Memory FAQ.

You can delete or archive any Health chat at any time. This control is always available to you within Health.

How can I disable apps, and what happens to data sharing once an app is turned off?

You can disconnect apps anytime in Health or in Settings > Apps. Once disconnected, Health stops accessing and sharing data with that app going forward.

Disconnecting can also delete imported data for certain apps (for example, disconnecting Medical Records deletes your records from our systems).
