Data residency for ChatGPT Business is rolling out gradually and is not yet available to all customers.
ChatGPT Business lets you choose where your workspace’s customer content is stored. If you choose a region outside the United States, safety and abuse-monitoring data will continue to be stored in the United States.
What does choosing a region cover?
Your selected region controls where your workspace’s primary customer content is stored at rest, including the prompts your members submit and the responses they receive.
It does not include inference residency or determine where ChatGPT processes requests and generates responses.

Select one of the available regions during ChatGPT Business checkout.
Are any features unavailable with data residency?
Workspace merging and migration: You cannot merge a personal workspace into a ChatGPT Business workspace with data residency enabled or migrate personal workspace data into that workspace. Your personal and Business workspaces remain separate. Learn more about workspace migration.
Shopping: The ChatGPT shopping experience is not available in Business workspaces with data residency enabled.
Where are safety and abuse-monitoring logs stored?
ChatGPT Business abuse-monitoring logs are stored in the United States, regardless of the storage region you select.
If you choose a region outside the United States, a copy of every prompt and response is also stored in the United States for a limited time for safety, abuse monitoring, and enforcement. This applies even though your workspace is configured to store customer content in another region.
Is this the same as data residency for Enterprise or Edu?
No. ChatGPT Enterprise and Edu have separate data residency policies. The storage and abuse-monitoring practices described here apply to ChatGPT Business and do not describe any exceptions that may apply to Enterprise or Edu.
