Overview
A ChatGPT Enterprise workspace is a dedicated environment for your organization within ChatGPT. It provides:
Centralized management of members, billing, and security settings
Access to business-grade features and controls
Separate conversations, custom GPTs, and files from any personal use
Enterprise-grade data handling and privacy, including default opt-out from model training
When you join a company's ChatGPT Enterprise workspace:
Your conversations and files within that workspace are owned and managed by the organization.
Your workspace activity is governed by the organization's policies and administrative controls.
Note: Some organizations may require you to merge your personal workspace into the Enterprise workspace when you accept an invite.
If you merge, supported content is copied from your personal workspace to the Enterprise workspace and is governed by your organization's policies. Not every file or data type transfers; Sites are not included. Migrated GPTs are not automatically shared with other workspace members. Merging is permanent and cannot be undone. If you need a data export, request, download, and check it from your personal workspace before merging. Self-service data export is not available in ChatGPT Enterprise workspaces.
You may also have situations where you retain both:
A personal workspace for your individual use
A separate Enterprise workspace managed by your organization
In that case, they remain fully distinct.
Switch between workspaces
If you have access to multiple workspaces, you can switch at any time:
Select your profile icon in ChatGPT.
A list of your available workspaces will appear.
Select the workspace name you want to access.
You will immediately enter the selected workspace’s environment, with its own conversations, settings, and resources.
Key points to remember
Personal and Enterprise workspaces keep their conversations, settings, and resources separate.
Enterprise workspaces are controlled by your organization's admins.
Some enterprises may require merging your personal workspace when you join — merging is irreversible.
Switching workspaces simply changes which environment you are working in; it does not move or copy data across workspaces.
