Overview
If you run into the message "You do not have an account because it has been deleted or deactivated" when signing in, it means your account has either been deleted by you or deactivated by our team.
Please check your email inbox, including the spam/junk folder, for a message from us.
If you deleted your account, you will have received emails to confirm receipt and completion of your deletion request.
If your account was deleted, unfortunately it cannot be reactivated. You can read more about this here: Can you reactivate my deleted account? After 30 days, you may create a new account with the same email address, provided the prior account was fully deleted (not deactivated).
If your account was deactivated because you have not completed identity verification, please follow the instructions in the verification email we sent you or contact us to resend the verification link.
For more information about identity verification, please see:
Recover access after required age verification
If your account was deactivated because you missed Italy’s required age-verification deadline, try signing in and select Verify your age on the deactivation screen. You can also restart verification through Stripe without finding the original email.
Use the email address associated with your OpenAI account, including an Apple private relay address if you use Hide My Email. For the complete steps and troubleshooting, see: Recovering an account after a missed age-verification deadline.
If your account is still active and asks you to complete required age verification, follow the instructions and any deadline shown in ChatGPT.
Being placed in the ChatGPT for Teens experience does not by itself deactivate your account. For more information, see: Age prediction in ChatGPT.
