Common login issues
Clear browser cache and cookies: This can resolve issues caused by outdated or corrupted data.
Use a desktop device with a modern browser: Browsers like Chrome or Edge are recommended for optimal compatibility.
Disable VPNs: VPNs can interfere with authentication processes; try logging in without them.
Authentication method problems
Ensure you're using the same authentication method as when you first registered:
If you signed up with Continue with Google or a different social auth, use that option to log in.
If you used a username and password, continue with that method.
If uncertain about your original method, attempt to log in using:
Username and Password
Continue with Google
Continue with Microsoft
Continue with Apple
Continue with phone
Use a private or incognito window to help avoid session conflicts.
Account already exists errors
“This user already exists”: Indicates an incomplete sign-up process and/or the user already exists. Try logging in instead.
“There is already a user with email...” or “Wrong authentication method”: Suggests a mismatch in login methods. Use your original sign-up method.
Verification email issues
If you've received a welcome email but not a verification email, restart the signup process on the OpenAI API Platform sign-up page.
Reset your password
If you signed up with an email and password, you can reset your password:
Log out or use an incognito/private browser window.
Go to the OpenAI login page and select Log in.
Enter your email address and select Continue.
Select Forgot password? and follow the instructions sent to your email.
If you don't receive the reset email:
Check your spam or junk folder.
Ensure you're using the correct email address associated with your OpenAI account.
Verify your authentication method: If you initially signed up using another method, such as with Google or Microsoft, you won't have a password with OpenAI. Instead, reset your password through the respective provider.

General troubleshooting tips
If you encounter errors like “Something went wrong”:
Use an incognito/private window: This helps eliminate issues caused by browser extensions or cached data.
Try a different browser or device: This can identify if the issue is browser-specific.
Switch networks: Attempt to log in using a different network (e.g., home WiFi, mobile hotspot).
Disable security extensions: Extensions can sometimes block authentication processes.
Check domain verification: If your domain is verified by another OpenAI organization, consult your IT administrator.
