How do I check the ChatGPT app version?

  1. Open the sidebar.

  2. Select your profile icon to open Settings.

  3. Find the version for your platform:

  • On iOS, scroll to the app version. If your Settings screen has an Information icon (i), select it to view the version.

  • On Android, select About. The version appears under ChatGPT for Android.

What can I try if the app or its tools freeze or return errors?

For crashes, freezes, and device-check errors, see: Troubleshooting the ChatGPT mobile app.

Reinstalling doesn't reset usage limits, change workspace permissions, or remove account restrictions. Follow any limit or access notice shown in ChatGPT.

How do I access my chat history?

  1. Open ChatGPT.

  2. Select the menu icon (two horizontal lines) to open the sidebar. Your recent chats appear with the newest first.

  3. Select a conversation to reopen it.

Your chat history syncs across devices where you're signed in to the same account. If an older chat isn't in the sidebar, check that you're in the correct account and workspace, then use search. Archived chats remain searchable; locked chats appear under Projects > Locked chats.

For the full search steps, see: Finding your chats, projects, and files in ChatGPT.

How do I delete a chat conversation?

  1. Open the conversation you want to delete.

  2. Select the more options menu (•••), then Delete.

  3. Confirm the deletion.

Deleted chats cannot be restored. For more details, see: Deleting and archiving chats in ChatGPT.

How do I delete my account?

Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. For the consequences and steps on each platform, see: Deleting your ChatGPT account.

How do I export my chat data?

Can I change my email address?

For the available options and account requirements, see: Changing your email address.

How do I select text or use response actions on Android?

Touch and hold response text to select it, then use the Android selection menu.

For ChatGPT response actions, use the buttons below a response or the more options menu (•••). Available actions vary by message and can include Copy, Good response, Bad response, Read aloud, Share, and Try again.

Can I drag a response into another app on iPad?

Yes. Touch and hold a response, then drag it into another app that accepts text, such as Notes or a spreadsheet.

This example shows a response being dragged into Notes. The apps' appearance may differ on your device.

How do I turn haptic feedback on or off?

  1. Open the sidebar and select your profile icon to open Settings.

  2. Select General.

  3. Turn Haptic feedback on or off.

If your app has a different Settings layout, look for Haptic feedback directly in Settings on iOS, or under Personalization on Android. The setting appears only on devices that support the app's haptic effects.
