Overview
This article covers personal ChatGPT subscriptions and self-service ChatGPT Business subscriptions. It does not cover ChatGPT Enterprise or Edu plans.
Cancel your subscription through the platform where you purchased it:
If you subscribed on chatgpt.com, cancel through your ChatGPT account.
If you subscribed through the Apple App Store, cancel through your Apple subscriptions.
If you subscribed through Google Play, cancel through your Google Play subscriptions.
If you have a self-service ChatGPT Business subscription, cancel through your workspace billing settings.
Uninstalling the ChatGPT app does not cancel your subscription. If you only want to stop future charges, you do not need to delete your ChatGPT account.
Canceling stops future renewals. It does not automatically refund previous charges.
Cancel a personal ChatGPT subscription
Cancel a subscription purchased on chatgpt.com
Sign in to ChatGPT.
Open your account menu and select Settings.
Select Billing.
Under Cancel plan, select Cancel.
Cancel an Apple App Store subscription
Apple manages subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store. To cancel on an iPhone or iPad:
Open Settings.
Select your name.
Select Subscriptions.
Select ChatGPT.
Select Cancel Subscription.
Confirm your cancellation.
If Cancel Subscription is not available and an expiration date is shown, the subscription may already be canceled.
Deleting your ChatGPT account does not cancel an Apple App Store subscription. Cancel the subscription through Apple before deleting your account.
Cancel a Google Play subscription
Make sure you are signed in to the Google account used to purchase your ChatGPT subscription.
Use the Google Play Store app
Open the Google Play Store app.
Open Subscriptions.
Select ChatGPT.
Select Cancel subscription.
Follow the instructions to confirm your cancellation.
Use the Google Play website
Open your Google Play subscriptions.
Sign in with the Google account used to purchase the subscription.
Next to ChatGPT, select Manage.
Select Cancel subscription.
If prompted, select a reason, then select Continue.
Cancel a ChatGPT Business subscription
To cancel a self-service ChatGPT Business subscription:
Sign in to ChatGPT.
Open your account menu and select Workspace settings.
Select Billing.
Select Manage plan.
Select Cancel subscription.
If you do not have access to workspace billing settings, ask your workspace owner for help.
Confirm your cancellation and billing date
Cancel at least 24 hours before your next billing date to avoid being charged for the next subscription period.
After cancellation, paid features remain available until the end of the current billing period.
Check your subscription status on the platform that billed you to confirm the subscription is no longer set to renew.
Deleting your ChatGPT account cancels subscriptions billed directly by ChatGPT. It does not cancel Apple App Store subscriptions. If you subscribed through Apple or Google Play, check the store subscription and cancel it before deleting your account.
Request a refund
Canceling a subscription stops future renewals but does not automatically refund previous charges. Refund eligibility depends on your purchase and location.
For subscriptions purchased on chatgpt.com or through Google Play, request a refund through OpenAI Support while signed in to the ChatGPT account associated with the charge.
For subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store, request a refund directly from Apple.

Troubleshoot subscription cancellation
Find a missing subscription
Check your purchase receipt to identify the platform that billed you. A subscription purchased on chatgpt.com does not appear in your Apple or Google Play subscriptions.
If you subscribed through Google Play, check each Google account on your device. If you subscribed through Apple, make sure you are signed in to the Apple account used for the purchase.
Find a missing paid plan
If your paid plan does not appear in ChatGPT, make sure you are signed in to the ChatGPT account used when you purchased the subscription.
You can use the same subscription across devices when you sign in to the same ChatGPT account. You do not need a separate subscription for each device.
Review duplicate subscriptions or charges
If you see more than one charge, check whether you have subscriptions under different ChatGPT, Apple, or Google accounts.
If you purchased more than one subscription, cancel the subscription you no longer want through the platform that billed you.
Review a charge after cancellation
Check your cancellation confirmation and next billing date. If you canceled less than 24 hours before the next billing date, the next charge may already have been processed.

Cancel without access to your account
If you cannot access the email address associated with a subscription billed directly by ChatGPT, OpenAI Support may be able to cancel it without deleting your account.
When contacting OpenAI Support, provide:
The email address associated with the account.
The last four digits of the payment card used for the subscription.
The date of your most recent subscription payment.
Do not share your full payment card number.

If your subscription is managed by Apple or Google Play, use the Apple or Google account associated with the purchase. If you cannot access that account, contact Apple or Google for help recovering it.

Does uninstalling the ChatGPT app cancel my subscription?
No. Uninstalling the app does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it through the platform where you purchased it.
Does deleting my ChatGPT account cancel my subscription?
Deleting your account cancels a subscription billed directly by ChatGPT. It does not cancel a subscription billed through Apple. If you subscribed through Google Play, check your Google Play subscription and cancel it if it is still active.
