This error typically means that we were unable to generate a token for your specific device. This can occur for a number of reasons:
Outdated App or OS Version
If you’re using the iOS, macOS, or Android apps, please try uninstalling and reinstalling with the latest versions from the App Store or Play Store.
Additionally, we recommend ensuring you are on the latest operating system for your device
We recommend iOS 18/macOS 15 and above
The device’s date and time are not set correctly
Please double-check the date and time settings of your device
Unstable or restricted internet connections (e.g. VPN’s, proxies, etc.)
Confirm that your network allows access to all OpenAI/ChatGPT domains
Test signing in on a different network
The device may be failing integrity checks (due to rooting, jailbreaking, or other modifications to the device)
We recommend working with Apple and Google to confirm that your device passes the respective checks:

Android: SafetyNet and Play Integrity
Note: Device check results can be cached for up to 24 hours, so it may take some time for any changes you make to fully propagate. As best practice, we recommend clearing your app data prior to any subsequent retry attempts.
