General Overview

Why is OpenAI introducing pricing in GBP and EUR?

OpenAI is introducing localized pricing in GBP and EUR to simplify the payment process and ensure consistency across web and mobile platforms​​​ in the UK and EU.

When will these changes go into effect?

Pricing changes for new subscribers will take effect in mid-January 2025. Migration of existing customers will begin in mid-February 2025​​​.

What services are affected by this change?

The changes apply to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Teams subscriptions. Enterprise and API services will follow in separate phases​​.

What are the new prices for ChatGPT subscriptions in EUR and GBP?

All prices shown below are inclusive of VAT

  • ChatGPT Plus: €23/month or £20/month

  • ChatGPT Pro: €229/month or £200/month

  • ChatGPT Teams: €34/seat/month or £30/seat/month (annual rates: €29/seat or £25/seat)​​​.

Migration and Transition

Do existing customers need to take any action?

Most customers will not need to take any action. However, some EEA customers may need to reauthenticate their payment method due to Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) requirements, which provides an extra layer of security and authentication to prevent fraud​​​.

How will existing customers be notified of the pricing changes?

Customers will receive a 30-day notice before the pricing change via email. Notifications will detail the new pricing, when it takes effect, and instructions to modify or cancel subscriptions​​.

What happens if a customer does not complete the SCA process?

All customers in the European Economic Area are required to complete the SCA process.

Will localized pricing be available for all payment methods?

As of now, we only offer credit card or bank debit via Link payment methods in UK and EEA countries. New pricing will apply to both payment methods.

Who should customers contact if they have questions about the pricing changes?

Customers can reach out to OpenAI’s support team by starting a conversation on help.openai.com for assistance with subscription modifications or general inquiries​.

Will OpenAI support refunds if customers are dissatisfied with the pricing changes?

Customers can manage their subscriptions, including cancellations, through their account settings. Refund policies will follow OpenAI’s standard terms and policies​.
