ChatGPT and the API Platform share one account. Changing its email in ChatGPT also updates your API sign-in.
Before you begin
You need access to your current email inbox. Without it, email changes are unsupported, including through OpenAI Support.
Self-service email changes require all three:
You have never used single sign-on (SSO) to sign in.
You do not belong to an Enterprise workspace or organization.
Your current email domain has not been verified for an Enterprise or Business customer.
For SCIM-managed accounts, your administrator handles identity changes. See managed-account requirements.
The new address cannot already belong to another OpenAI account. If you originally signed up through Google, Microsoft or Apple, add a password in Settings → Account before changing your email.
Change your email
Sign in to ChatGPT on the web. The iOS and Android apps do not support email changes.
Open
Settings → Account
and select your email address.
Enter the new address and follow the verification prompts.
After being signed out, use the new email to sign back in.
If you can’t change your email, see the full email-change guide for other options.
