How to request a refund
The process to request a refund for your subscription depends on how you initially signed up. To help us verify your account and process your request quickly, please contact us while logged in to the OpenAI account tied to the subscription or from the email address associated with the relevant charge.
You subscribed on the web at chatgpt.com
If you want to request a refund, first navigate to ChatGPT and log in with the account for which you would like a refund. Next, navigate to the Help Center and select the chat widget displayed on the bottom-right of the page. Request for a refund through the chat. Our system will automatically show you a quick summary of your refund eligibility before you are connected with an agent.
Important: Make sure you are logged into help.openai.com with the same OpenAI account that was charged. If the chat widget displays a 'requires_login' or 'login required' message, or can't locate your subscription, click Log in, sign in to the correct account, then reopen the chat widget and submit your refund request again.
Our team will reply back to you as soon as possible. If you are eligible for a refund, we will process it within 5-7 business days. Accidental purchases are generally eligible for a refund if you contact us within 14 days of the charge.
Upon processing your refund, we will send a receipt to the email associated with your account. If you do not find the receipt in your inbox, kindly check your spam folder.
If you'd like to cancel your subscription, follow the steps outlined in this article: How do I cancel my ChatGPT subscription? Deleting your OpenAI account will also automatically cancel any active ChatGPT subscriptions to prevent future charges.
You subscribed via Apple Subscriptions

You subscribed via Google Play Store

Note for EU, UK, and Turkey residents
If you live in the EU, UK, or Turkey, you are eligible for a prorated refund if you cancel your subscription within 14 days of purchase.
